Our research and practice focus on some of the most critical challenges of our time, including the impacts of climate change; access to affordable and high-quality housing, 教育, 食物, and health care; and forced migration and human rights. Through long-term research collaborations and partnerships with practitioners, 政策制定者, and community members most impacted by these challenges, we develop strategies and policies that direct attention and resources toward 公平的 and 可持续发展的 solutions.

Education and youth development are dynamic processes that extend beyond formal institutions such as schools, and include informal community spaces and youth development organizations. Refugees, forced migration, and human rights

Changing climate patterns are creating a rise in forced migration, 地缘政治竞争, 以及冲突导致的流离失所. Human societies will need to find mutually sustaining ways to integrate communities together with displaced persons, 评估侵犯人权行为, 并计划人道主义行动.

Despite rapid advances in agri文化 science and technology, millions of people around the world continue to experience malnourishment and extreme hunger. Multiple forms of knowledge and expertise are needed to address this complex problem.

Researchers and practitioners at SSJ are helping to improve urban 食物 systems in the city of 伍斯特波多黎各的农业恢复力, and exploring the ways Indigenous and other place-based ecological knowledge can enable communities in 埃塞俄比亚 to enhance 食物 security and anticipate and adapt to change.
